Future Goals are the building blocks of a child`s future. Every student should have the motivation and determination to achieve the predetermined goals within a given time. Parents and teachers have a huge role to play in guiding the students to explore their potentials and identify their goals. The benefit of a long-term goal is to set appropriate benchmarks, whereas short term goals make a student more disciplined. Benefits of setting goals: Responsibility: A student becomes more responsible and takes charge of their success or failure Time management: Kids learn how to manage their time to meet their goals. Self Confidence: Achievements builds their self esteem which molds them as strong human beings. Resilience: Kids learn to cope with the minor and major setbacks, which makes more determined. Perseverance: They learn to keep on trying and working hard until they meet their goals. Different ways to guide kids to set their goals: Vision: Drawing a picture of what one wants to achieve in life is called a vision. Working hard each day to fulfill that mission is called an achievement. Kids should be encouraged to write down their short term and long term goals which would motivate them to work harder and better each day. Identifying a set of goals is an eye opening experience for the kids, and it rekindles a sense of enthusiasm in them. Planning: A vision must be fragmented and achieved in bits and pieces. Goals are not achieved immediately, they are done in phases. A student must be patient and consistently work towards achieving that goal. Measuring Progress: Keeping tabs of one`s progress is absolutely necessary to get an estimate of one`s position. Parents and teachers should make students think in a realistic way and try to confront their unrealistic goals. Kids should have the ability to understand that which plan is working out and which is not; they shouldn`t be doomed by failures nor be over exhilarated with success. Proper balance in life and emotions is the key to achievement. Setting specific Goals: A good goal is a specific goal. Being totally focused in one direction is extremely important as it would help the student to achieve their goals and dreams faster. Students often tend to generalize their dreams, but it is the duty of the parents and teachers to educate them in choosing smart specific goals, one at a time. Family support: When families understand a child`s goals, they learn to support each other. This fosters a family environment based on cooperation instead of hostility. It reinforces the idea that although all people are individuals with their own unique interests, a family can work together and provide support and help to each other when needed. It is never too early to start setting goals. Thus, kids should be taught to make a note of their goals and make an effort each day, to achieve their dreams. Goals help kids to build resilience and cope with setbacks and mold them into powerful and disciplined leaders.
Teaching kids is one of the most delicate and challenging jobs as there is no fool-proof way on how to teach kids. To instill the right amount of knowledge and skill without making them lose interest in studies is a hard task and can get very difficult at times. But there are various methods and techniques that can be used to make a child learn faster. According to studies, it has been found that, there are Seven Different Learning Styles that help a kid to learn and understand better, they are:- Visual (Spatial) Learning Style: Spatial or Visual Learners are taught through pictures, icons, charts, diagrams, and color coded information. On teaching any academic subject, kids must research topics using graphics and compile their findings into a poster. Visual learners can also retain more information as they use different colored pens, pencils, markers, labels, and sticky notes, which help them, remember in a better way. Aural (Auditory) Learning Style: Auditory or Aural Learners thrive on teaching techniques that involve sound. Making up a story or a song or a rhyme with the directions of the main concepts of the lesson helps children to learn much faster. For younger children, oral storytelling and sing-along, making up poems or songs help them to teach important lessons. Verbal (Linguistic) Learning Style: Linguistic or Verbal Learners use words and texts to memorize concepts. Copying down phrases and words, taking their own notes during lectures, reading out loud, listening to audio recordings, and discussions are effective teaching methods and techniques for this type of learners. Spellings are taught by having them write out the word correctly, multiple number of times. Writing helps the brain to retain information ten times more, than just reading or visualizing. Physical (Kinesthetic) Learning Style: Physical or kinesthetic Learners learn through creating. Kids learn better if they are encouraged to create and built their own imagination and experience, no matter what they are learning. Sports, Technology, Trips, Games are also effective teaching methods for physical learners. Children must be motivated to learn from their mistakes and failed attempts and rectify it in their next approach. Logical (Mathematical) Learning Style: Logical or Mathematical Learners use problem solving as a way to learn new materials. They excel at following complicated directions and using technology and games to reach learning outcomes. They can be taught in a more efficient way about technology and must be given special attention. Logical Learners often go for Engineering, Mathematics or in some Research Fields as these professional fields typically follow logical rules. Social (Interpersonal) learning Style: Social or Interpersonal Learners thrive on interpersonal communications and learn best in a group atmosphere. These types of learners can be taught by Group Discussions, Sports, Social Activities, Discussions and by all other activities where group of person participate. Solitary (Intrapersonal) Learning Style: Solitary or Intrapersonal Learners are self-paced learners. They rely on online communities and enjoy watching how-to-videos and reading to learn new things. They should not be pushed or forced to do stuff, instead they should be allowed to work and learn at their own pace. It is not at all necessary that only one of the seven teaching styles be used, these methods must be blended and used to educate a child and expand their knowledge in a much simpler way and in a lesser time. A number of different teaching techniques have emerged due to change in education over the years. Many of these teaching techniques are not actually new; rather they have been modified for better and faster learning. Thus, new facilities and modern equipments are encouraged along with traditional old methods to bring out an effective way, for better understanding for the kids.

“The Birds & The Bees Talk” in general it is that talk in which Parents explain & talk about Sexual relationship to their kids. People say, “Charity begins at home”. But basically, every good thing or beginning step of any education begins at home. This is because what we learn from home generally stays with us for long and it gets embedded within our souls. We try to follow it unknowingly. Sex education is not an exception in this case. Parents Dos and Don’ts on Sex Education: Indian parents are usually very judgmental of what should be discussed at home and what should be kept under covers. But can we really segregate that these are the things we should discuss at home and these are the things that we should refrain from? Well, right and wrong are basically relative terms. But of course the parents are somebody to decide what their children should know at what point of time. Indian Social Norms on Sex Education: In today’s world, with the increasing use of internet, it has become extremely difficult and sometimes impossible for the parents to monitor what their child is growing with each and every day. India is definitely one of those lands which run on the basis of Pre-conceived notions when it comes to the society. What the society will think of ourselves is more important to us than what we want ourselves to be and this malicious choice of priorities has casted its evil shadow not only on The Birds and The Bees Talk, but also on the ambitions of the youngsters. Sex & Education: A Natural Process : Diffusion, osmosis and photosynthesis are perhaps the most fundamental concepts that we have gained from our Biology books. But why should we learn about these natural processes if we are not allowed to learn about sex which is also the most fundamental natural phenomenon.Without sex, life would have been impossible on earth.Yet in today’s 21st century, Indian parents fail to understand the significance of sex education.Learning something from textbook and reference articles is very different from learning through discussions. Discussions are always more helpful than any kind of reading-writing procedure and if we have the same discussion with our family members then I can challenge that things will be more easy to understand and we will surely have a different kind of comfort level with each of our family members. Parent’s Thoughts on Sex Education: Whenever the word sex is uttered most of the people develop a sense of dirty feeling within their minds. What they fail to realize is that it’s the very cause of their own existence. A magazine displaying condom advertisement on its back cover is hidden away by the elders of the so-called cultured families. They tend to restrict each and every child of the family to keep away from such advertisements.Instead of doing such kind of meaningless activities if a person sits and talks with his or her daughter or son about the protective measures of a healthy sexual life then perhaps the society can become a better place to live in. Request to Parents on The Birds & The Bees Talk: It’s an earnest request to each of the parents round the world on my behalf—please allow your child to know the truth of his or her existence. With the accelerating curve of child sexual abuse, it is very important for each of the young hearts of the world to become cautious and aware of the surroundings. And if something unfortunate happens, your children must have a comfort level to share his or her dreadful experience with you. This can only be achieved through normal conversations on The Birds and The Bees—through words, through gestures or through games.
